Prefer Watching Birds through a Virtual Lens?
Attend Audubon‘s Baltimore Birding Weekend virtually! Too far away? Differently abled? Reluctant to join in-person events? 2020 is a unique year, and we are piloting a new way to watch birds! Instead of a 3-hour hike, join us for a 1-hour virtual experience, available in selected locations. You will accompany the group on their tour to see what they see, plus have exclusive access to viewing birds through the guide’s scope (due to COVID-19, we are not sharing optics so the high powered scope views are reserved for our virtual participants). Discover birds through this unique lens while supporting Patterson Park Audubon Center!
Our virtual field trips are $10 per trip. A few days prior to the event, you will be emailed Zoom login information to join the online experience live during Oct. 2-4!
MORNING VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE
Masonville Cove
9:30 – 10:30 am
Cost: $10/person ($12 per trip after midnight on Sept. 18)
Masonville Cove is 70 acres of protected bird sanctuary on a formerly neglected parcel of land along the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River. More than 160 species have been recorded here during the month of October!
AFTERNOON VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE
Patterson Park
1:30 – 2:30 pm
Cost: $10/person ($12 per trip after midnight on Sept. 18)
We can’t host the Baltimore Birding Weekend without a virtual tour of our namesake park! Baltimore’s oldest park features 134 acres of open lawns and fields, mature trees, and a shallow wetland. 147 species of birds have been recorded in here in October. We’ll explore the native plant garden and Boat Lake to search for migrating songbirds and resident waterfowl and herons!
