  • Southwest Area Park: meet your guides in the parking lot for the Baltimore Highlands Light Rail Station, located at 4113 Baltimore St., Baltimore, MD 21227. GPS Coordinates: 39.236027, -76.632732

Saturday, May 9 – MORNING FIELD TRIPS

  • Masonville Dredged Material Containment Facility: You will meet Scott Housten in the parking lot at Middle Branch Park, located at 3301 Waterview Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21230. After Scott checks everyone in, the group will carpool for a 7-minute drive to meet Tim Carney at the Masonville DMCF at 7:50 am. Those who leave vehicles at Middle Branch Park will be returned to the park after the field trip ends at 11:00 am. Detailed directions will be provided before May 9.
  • Herring Run Park: Across the street from the St Francis of Assisi School, located at 3617 Harford Rd, Baltimore, MD 21218. Meet on the Herring Run Trail at the corner of Harford Road and Chesterfield Ave. Use GPS Coordinates: 39.331312, -76.579207
  • Gwynns Falls Leakin Park: meet in the parking area at the Winans Meadow Trailhead, near 4500 N Franklintown Road, Baltimore, MD 21229. Use GPS coordinates: 39.30457, -76.69368

Saturday, May 9 – AFTERNOON FIELD TRIPS

  • Green Mount Cemetery: 1501 Greenmount Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202 – you may drive through the entrance and park along the road; your guides will meet you just inside the entrance. Use GPS coordinates: 39.307218, -76.608252
  • Fort McHenry & Wetlands Trail: 2400 East Fort Avenue, Baltimore , MD 21230. Please park in the grass & gravel parking area on the left as you enter. Use GPS Coordinates: 39.265102, -76.581476
  • Breeding Birds of Baltimore: Thames Street Park, located at the corner of Thames Street and South Wolfe Street in Fells Point. We recommend that you arrive early to get street parking and enjoy lunch in Fells Point before we meet at the park at 1:00 pm. Use GPS coordinates: 39.282171, -76.590255

Sunday, May 10 – MORNING FIELD TRIPS

  • Patterson Park: 2901 E Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 – park on the street and meet your guides at the corner entrance of Patterson Park across from the Patterson Public House. Use GPS coordinates: 39.292108, -76.576341
  • Hanlon Park and Druid Hill Park: Please park along Powhatan Avenue, but be mindful of the residential driveways. Please do not block anyone in. Meet your guides on the paved path along Lake Ashburton. Use GPS coordinates: 39.319859, -76.671082
  • Druid Hill Reservoir & Horseshoe Falls: meet your guides in front of the Baltimore City Recreation & Parks Office Building, located at 3001 East Drive, Baltimore, MD 21217. There is parking along East Drive. GPS Coordinates: 39.320395, -76.634617

Here are some common sense approaches to make your Baltimore Birding Weekend field trips more enjoyable:

  • No cancellations are accepted after April 25, 2026. For a further explanation of our refund policy, please click here.
  • Trips will go rain or shine, unless torrential rains or dangerous conditions prevent us from viewing wildlife. Please dress for the weather!
  • If the trip is canceled, we will notify you via email. Please note that the email will be sent to all participants BCC, so you may need to check your email spam folder. A full refund will be provided within 15 days.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for hiking in our Baltimore parks and natural areas in May.
  • You must bring your own binoculars. We do not have access to loaner binoculars.
  • Carry sunscreen, sunglasses and/or a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Try to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled trip departs.
  • Most trips are not appropriate for young children. Please use your discretion when registering.
  • Be courteous to your fellow birders. Speak quietly during field trips and switch cell phones to vibrate.
  • If you registered for a Green Mount Cemetery field trip: please help us maintain its beauty and dignity by observing these rules of etiquette. A printed copy of the sign-in sheet will be provided at the beginning of the tour.
  • Restroom facilities may not be available during field trips.
  • Baltimore Birding Weekend participants are responsible for their own beverage purchases and behavior during the Saturday afternoon Tally Rally at Union Brewing.
